The poem “Sea Fever” is written by John Masefield. In this poem, the poet expresses his deep love for the sea and his strong desire to return to the life of a sailor. The sea calls him again and again, and he cannot resist it. He wishes to sail on a tall ship under the open sky, guided by a star. He enjoys the sound of the wind, the movement of the ship, the flying clouds, and the cry of the sea-gulls. He also wants the free and adventurous life of the sea. At the end of the journey, he wishes for peaceful sleep and sweet dreams. The poem shows the poet’s passion for the sea, freedom, and adventure.

In this stanza, the poet says that he strongly wants to go back to the sea again. He loves the lonely sea and the open sky. He does not ask for luxury-only a tall ship and a guiding star are enough for him. He enjoys the physical movements of the ship, the sound of the wind, and the sight of the white sails shaking. The grey mist and early morning light make the sea more beautiful and mysterious to him.

Here, the poet says that the moving tide of the sea calls him strongly. This call is wild and powerful, and he cannot ignore it. He dreams of a windy day when white clouds fly across the sky. He enjoys the sea waves splashing water into the air and the loud cries of the sea-gulls. All these natural scenes attract him deeply.

In the last stanza, the poet talks about the free and wandering life of a sailor, just like a gypsy. He wants to follow the path of sea birds and sea animals where the wind is sharp and strong. He also wishes to hear happy stories from his sailor friends. After finishing the long duty on the sea, he desires peaceful sleep and sweet dreams. This shows his love for both adventure and rest.
